And he said, let there be light. And it was so. Well, sorta anyway.
I'm fuckin' back~
I know this isn't EXACTLY the place for this sort of thing, but I need to announce it somehow. I'm making the site a permanent tab on my Mac partition. I will be actively participating much more now in hopes that it will bring life back into the site. I realize (as I have more than once before) that my presence seems to be needed to keep anything social, productive, or otherwise flowing here.
That being said, my absence for so long is more or less intolerable, and I promise it won't happen again. Especially not with me being at Full Sail, which is essentually the path to EXACTLY what I want Iceberg to turn into. It's progessed further than you all may realize thanks to you all just being here, and for that I'm thankful.
The forums have seen some hard times, and I hope that we can look past that and keep going strong. I won't ask for active recruiting this time around, but I will be making a few announcements:
FIRST: Gage is still progressing. It's my baby at this point and I won't let it go the way of Halo Survivor or anything else. It will be made if it kills me. However, I've come to realize it is not something I am qualified to do on my own. So when I get the proper stuff in order, I'll be making a development page for it…a blog to state progress and make requests. I'll be looking to assemble a team to work on the project with me. Once it's done, I will be (or at least very strongly considering) submitting the game to the indie section on XBox LIVE via XNA. Mithos is helping greatly with this.
I'll be looking for a programmer, an in-game artist/animator (or one of each…time will tell), someone to do the music, and a full voice cast that I will want to remain strong and consistant throughout the series as I have planned. It's more than one game, and I want to make that clear right now. The idea has stemmed way further than a single 6 level game, and I'm not afraid to say it. But I'm also not afraid to say that I absolutely can not do it alone. I'll be looking to you here and to new people to get the job done.
SECOND: Mithos and I are looking to start a new thing for Iceberg to help generate content and views and fans. We'll be doing something known as a Let's Play: Basically, a Let's Play is a video walkthrough of a game with commentary from the player, and any additional flair thrown in properly to make the experience fun and enjoyable. He and I will be the primary Iceberg Players, but it will be open to any and all of us who want to do it. I have an intro idea layed out for the videos, that I already ran by Gamer. He seemed to be on board with the idea, so content should be coming soon. Each video will start with a “Planet Iceberg – Let's Play” intro sequence of some kind, which we will design and polish to a sexy shine. When the intro ends, it will show 4 video “options”, one of which will be highlighted and selected to look like a Video Game menu screen. The 4 types of videos will be marked in this order, and will mean the following:
-Campaign: This will be a standard LP. Where the player(s) in that video will simply find a game and play. Simple.
-Multiplayer: Multiple videos, co-op, picture in picture, death matches…anything with more than one Iceberg Player at a time will fall in here. So say us Players want to do Castle Crashers. It would go here.
-Challenges: A challenge video will be when either another Iceberg Player, another member of Iceberg not involved, or any member of the public will challenge an Iceberg Player of their choice to play a certian game (and if requested, a certian way) This will add a fun twist to things, and should provide with some excelent rage humor!
-Custom: Also known as favorites. This is where stuff gets professional: a Player will choose a game they can absolutely destroy, and play that in order to give viewers an expansive walk through, and to flaunt their epic skills.
We may implament a sort of mock log-in screen after the menu selection is made, where we'll “enter” the name of the Player(s) for that video before they introduce themselfs.
I guess this was really just for those two things, but stay tuned and hopefully we'll have lots of brand new activity to come. I don't want this place dying…it just got good, after all!
