As I said in my revival topic, yes.  We will be starting up a Let's Play (or LP for short) section of the site.  The content is popular and fun.  So why not?  We are about entertainment after all.

HERE'S THE CURRENT INFO, AS COPY/PASTED FROM THE REVIVAL TOPIC:

Mithos and I are looking to start a new thing for Iceberg to help generate content and views and fans.  We'll be doing something known as a Let's Play:  Basically, a Let's Play is a video walkthrough of a game with commentary from the player, and any additional flair thrown in properly to make the experience fun and enjoyable.  He and I will be the primary Iceberg Players, but it will be open to any and all of us who want to do it.  I have an intro idea layed out for the videos, that I already ran by Gamer.  He seemed to be on board with the idea, so content should be coming soon.  Each video will start with a “Planet Iceberg – Let's Play” intro sequence of some kind, which we will design and polish to a sexy shine.  When the intro ends, it will show 4 video “options”, one of which will be highlighted and selected to look like a Video Game menu screen.  The 4 types of videos will be marked in this order, and will mean the following:

-Campaign:  This will be a standard LP.  Where the player(s) in that video will simply find a game and play.  Simple.

-Multiplayer:  Multiple videos, co-op, picture in picture, death matches…anything with more than one Iceberg Player at a time will fall in here.  So say us Players want to do Castle Crashers.  It would go here.

-Challenges:  A challenge video will be when either another Iceberg Player, another member of Iceberg not involved, or any member of the public will challenge an Iceberg Player of their choice to play a certian game (and if requested, a certian way)  This will add a fun twist to things, and should provide with some excelent rage humor!

-Custom:  Also known as favorites.  This is where stuff gets professional: a Player will choose a game they can absolutely destroy, and play that in order to give viewers an expansive walk through, and to flaunt their epic skills.

We may implament a sort of mock log-in screen after the menu selection is made, where we'll “enter” the name of the Player(s) for that video before they introduce themselfs.

RIGHT.  So there's all that.  Any questions, comments, conserns, or Player requests can be put up here.  Enjoy!

What's the ruling on the Challenge Mode? If the game were too hard for us to finish (like, if someone got suckered into doing I Wanna be the Guy) are we allowed to quit/forefit the challenge?

You… ended you’re sentence with a preposition… bastard!

Ok cool, glad you asked.  As you'd assume, each “Play Mode” has rules.  They're pretty leniant, but they all fit well enough.

Since it was asked about, here's the rulings on Challenge Mode:

-You must accept a challenge from the start.  Sorry if this ends up being scary.  BUT:  A challenge can only be put out to an experienced Player (not in terms of skill, but in terms of LP tallent.  In this case, Mithos and I will be prime targets since we're more than likely going to be the main players.)  So if someone busted the door down and yelled “GAMERKD!  I CHALLENGE YOU TO PLAY THROUGH A DRAGONBALL Z FIGHTING GAME STORY MODE IN AN HOUR WITH YOUR EYES CLOSED!”  Ruling here gives him full right to tell the person to light themselves on fire.

-This brings up rule two:  challenges must be feasable.  Asking someone to go through Super Mario Bros. without jumping, for instance, would recieve the same request to light ones self on fire.

-Next, if a challenge is making you want to kill your neighbors child, put it down.  But only if you really need to.  Give everything an honest shot and try your best.  If it comes down to it and you have to stop…then we won't keep you from doing so.  HOWEVER:  If you do quit, the final video will have a special ending that will say something along the lines of “CHALLENGE FAILED” or something.  On that note, for a completed challenge, the final video will end with something like “CHALLENGE COMPLETE!” and we'll do a mock high score screen.  To add that extra bit of flavor to set our videos apart from the rest.

-Finally, no cheating.  Now granted we'll be watching the videos, but when I mentioned that good honest effort before, I meant it.  Play on the honor system.  If you're using an emulator, no “Oops~!  I accidentally save stated.”  This will result in a Challenge Failed note in the editing process by order of myself (if it's a subtle thing, Mithos and I will review it judge-style to make sure.)  If you'll be playing via capture device from your TV…it may be harder to cheat, but the possibility is still there (If the challenge is “Play the final mission of Halo 3 with no guns – melee only”, and you shoot…that's the sort of cheating we mean.)

That's all I can think of off hand for Challenge Mode rulings.  If you feel like something should be ammended, don't hesitate to bring it up.

Shoulda seen that coming.  Ok, I'm going to do these one at a time, so please pardon the 3 posts in a row coming.  It'll just make it less overwhelming.

We have Challenge Mode covered, which would be mode #3.  Let's hit up Mode #1…Campaign.

Campaign Mode will be treated like standard Let's Plays.  Informational based on experience, but typically playing through things you haven't played yet.  This will be just normal, good, wholesome “new to this game” gaming.  For instance, I'm tempted to punch a hole in a window over trying Ninja Gaiden for the first time.  Essentially, it's a self-made challenge.

-Players will be choosing games based on word-of-mouth, curiosity, request (no challenges here though.  These can be upright declined, and it just has to be something like “You should totally give Mega Man X4 a shot!”).

-Play pure and simple:  Don't go for gimics…nothing special.  If you need to save state, do it.  If you want to try something unorthodox, go for it.  Need to restart a stage mid-way through?  Be our guest.  Play naturally.

-Play comfortably too guys.  If the game isn't for you, there's no shame in dropping it.  Just be sure to mention you're dropping it in the videos so nobody asks where it went, or send you eight thousand emails asking you to keep going.

This one is pretty much gaming on video.  Have fun with it~!

That's Mode 1 and 3 down, so next is 2:  Multiplayer:

Gaming has undoubtedly been fun with additional people.  It's the grounds for board games for christ's sake.  So why not add it in for fun in LP videos as well?  It's a core function of gaming now, so it's only fair.

Now, Multiplayer Mode will act in a few different ways, so here's the specs on all of them:

-Multiplayer can act as Campaign, with the same core rules, but with added players.  This essentially means, think the previous post, with two people or more.

-Multiplayer can also act as a generic deathmatch:  Halo 3 multiplayer?  Why the hell not.  Less about LP than the others…but still fun.  This applies to fighting games and the like as well.

-Race mode~!  Why not kill two birds with one stone and settle a “who gets to do this game” or “Level” by doing them both at the same time!  We can edit the videos side by side with details in the blank video space.  Thoughts or notes and the like.

-Here's an actual rule!~  If anything like a race or a fighting game fight are put in for play, or maybe a co-op mission in a game; set rules and roles first.  Remember the two Rs!  This is to add structure to gameplay, and to see certian skills in action; as an example for Roles:  If you're playing Halo 3 as a team of two.  Assign roles for that mission; like I would snipe, and Mithos could run medium to close range.  This means that in certian situations, viewers will know who to focus on if it isn't already obvious.  Anxious to see if the first shot is a good one?  Watch the sniper.  Want to see how many bodies he tears through?  Watch the assault guy.  Now, you could forgo this if the situation doesn't call for it…like in a flood mission.  Everyone will be running and shooting, there isn't much around that.  In these situations, that is acceptable, but if a mission can have roles, try to incorperate it.

And rules you ask?  Well, let's say it's a race.  You may want to leave certian things in or out:  in a Kirby based race, maybe the Wheel ability will be forbidden.  Or maybe you HAVE to use Jet.  These are more of options that you can use to spice up the experience, and is more open-ended than the Roles bit.

There's plenty of oppertunity here, so that's not a finalized rule listing really.  In fact it isn't much of a rule set at all, save for the last one.  This one is as open ended and potentially chaotic as any real multiplayer game.

Three down!  Time to cover the final bit, and more or less what is bound to be everyones favorite:

Custom Mode!

Custom Mode is full on Player choice.  But more specifically, it should be a game you are utterly confident in your skills with.  For me, that would be Mega Man X.  A game I can utterly destroy.  I'm fairly convinced I could play the first level with my eyes closed.  But that's for Challenge Mode.

-Pick a game you have utter confidence in.  If you aren't sure what that means, think to yourself:  “What game do I honestly feel like I know TOO much about.”  Proper examples for me are the games I have dibs on currently.  The First 3 MMX games, Axelay, and Gradius III.

-Play it, flaunting your expertese.  This is actually vital: these will be the most like walkthrough videos out of any we do by far.  If you feel the need to explain your down-pat strategy for how to do something, even if it goes against published, professional players guides…do it.  Give the viewer every last bit of your knowledge so that it can better serve them if and when they deside to play the game.  They're your favorites, make it show.

-Flaunt your stuff:  you're downright sexy when you're playing these games…so show it off.  Make it fun and interesting.  Insult bosses.  Trash talk AI.  Let them know that you did indeed just fuck them up with a weapon that shoots bubbles.  Ok, maybe not that violent…at least that won't be my style so much.  But make it abundantly clear that you know what the hell you're doing.

-FOR EMULATOR USERS:  Since these are games you consider yourself pro at, don't use savestates unless you know for sure that it will benefit the video in some way.  If you know one specific thing WILL be screwing you, then sure…save state to keep the time down.

This seems like all for now.  Mithos may help me ammend things, and everyone is welcome to suggest things or ask questions!

As a sub form of Multiplayer, maybe we could do some live streams, or some how get a seconed LPer to “ride shotgun” commenting along with the main player?

You… ended you’re sentence with a preposition… bastard!

Something like that sounds like it woule be pretty gold.  The only hurdle is getting over my fear of Livestream, since I'm pretty sure that's what melted my Windows side.  >w>

Heh, also, what sort of “rating” should we be aiming for? I assume an F-carpet bombing would be in bad taste?

I always try to keep it toned down for the sake of everyone being able to enjoy, but it shouldn't be THAT much of an issue.  Just keep it to a minimum, and if it's a no-script situation (anything that isn't Custom Mode, basically), we can always pull the bleep.  :3
