Does anyone here consider PC to basically be their gaming system of choice? I think I might be unique in that aspect on Iceberg, but I'm just wondering. I've been a PC gamer since I first started gaming, back when all I was playing were Major Stryker, Command & Conquer, and Warcraft II. These days (at least until my comptuer died due to a worm, which is getting resolved) I've been filling my gaming time with Dawn of War II, Far Cry 2, and Fallout 3, which was my favorite game of both last year and this year so far.

So, anyone else as into PC games as I am, or am I barking up the wrong tree here?

All I had for a while growing up was the PC so yeah, I am PC gamer I would think. Maybe not really in depth games, but I have played games like Prey, Halo CE, Half-Life, Midtown Madness 2, Gish, misc. arcade games, and those addicting flash games online. The only thing I play for Xbox now is Halo and Call of Duty 4.

I played Prey on the 360 since I didn't have a computer good enough to run it until now. It's amazing what you can run on a 10 year old computer though… Dawn of War runs pretty well on this thing.

In the past few weeks I've sorta been forced to be a console gamer because of that damn worm on my computer. It's finally gone, but it took the computer down with it. Managed to beat Dead Space in the last 2 days as a result though.

I've mostly been a PC gamer, since I'm not really a dedicated gamer to buy a console. Although my mom almost bought a 360 for the family. She just wanted to play Zuma.

PC games are easier to get a hold of, anyways. ;)

I'd like to see how well I can run some games on this new MacBook, I have. It has two NVIDIA GeForce 9400M (256 VRAM) graphics cards in it. Time to break out the Windows disc. I know what I'm doing at work, today. Sweet. Kip

Edit: The fact that World of Warcraft is available for Mac scares me… I won't touch it… I've seen crack addicts and WoW addicts. The crack addicts have a better chance in life. hmm

Sounds like you have the computer to run Crysis.

Borrow it from me next time I'm in CT and you can have all the frog throwing fun in the world!

Also, Fallout 3 is a better game on PC than on Xbox 360, considering your rig can run it.

Looks less muddy, yet still dirty, and is a hell of a lot more reliable. Still a good game though.

I think I'm kinda a mix of everything when it comes to gaming. I've done everything and I've been up to my ankles in games for all the systems. When I was really young I was a Nintendo guy, I grew up with a NES and at Lighthouse Baptist Church all I did was play Super Metroid. I got a little older and then started playing Playstation games too, FF7 and Legend of Dragoon and Crash Bandicoot and castlevania and all that. Then while I was juggling the Nintendo and the Playstation I got into the Xbox a little bit. Not as much but still a lot.And for the PC I mostly had emulators though, but I did have Diablo 2 for PC.

Now I've got all the emulators the world has to offer, a DS at my side, I did play WOW for a bit I may play again to connect with an old friend I'm not sure if it would be worth it again, and I even got Diablo 2 back :D

So yeah I'm not so sure what I am lol

It's alright to do a bit of everything; it's not like I exclusively play PC games.

I grew up with a ton of emulators since my parents wouldn't let me have a game console til I got a PS2. This happened only when Ames was shutting down and discounting everything.

I just wish I could have sprung for a more expensive computer that way I could play more games instead of just a select few, like Spore.

God that game was fun in the beginning. But then when I got to the Tribal Stage it got laggy superbad. Although I've heard it doesn't get much funner after Tribal so I don't even feel like I missed out on anything. And damn Dawn of War…so choice. But I can't has on my laptop :'(

What kind of hardware do you have on your laptop? I can run Dawn of War on medium settings on Rustbucket, which has:

Pentium 4 processor

512 megs of RAM

256 meg graphics card

If you have a computer made in the last 5 years you can probably run it on at least medium graphics settings. The first one anyway, DoWII is pretty punishing of most hardware.

I don't remember the exact stats on my laptop (yes a laptop so its pretty fail with gaming hardware already), I just know that if I wanted to look up the stats for my laptop I'd have to log into Xfire and it would give my computer viruses again, so…my friend The Nate tried to install it on his laptop which is the same one I have and it couldn't finish it, so I know DOW2 isn't gonna happen :(

I'll just play on Max's computer though haha Ohnoes

Fair enough.

I'm a desktop guy, even here in college.

Laptops cost twice the money for the same power and are less reliable.

Desktop it is.

But the mobility of the Laptop makes it worth it. I can't sit in a computer chair all day, it sux.

but with this laptop, I can go on the floor (most of the time I'm laying down while on the computer) or I can sit on my bed, or even go outside.

Mobitlity is what the Laptop was desined for, and has succeded in it.

While you are correct Shadw, I still miss the capabilities that a dektop the same price has. Of course my laptop is parsecs ahead of my old computer at home though so I'm not bothered too much. Just right there I am :/

I've basically molded out of the FPS genera and more into strategy gaming, which is mainly PC. Shooting this guy and shooting that guy kinda got old after a while unless online…which also died after everything broke up. The total war series is excelent if anyone (besides matt <_<) has tried it.

Oh yeah, spore did suck, waste of my money…

I actually brought my comfy chair from home to use my computer with. The chairs here are good for cracking your back and fucking, and little else. Kindling maybe. I'm always going to be a desktop computer guy. I like the reliability, durability, long life, power, and cost. I don't move around the room and my school has computers on campus. I just don't have the need for a laptop.

I'm actually the opposite of Flyboy – I grew up playing RTS games and now I can't get enough of shooters. However, I usually don't give two shits about online (unless it's CoD4) and I still play one or two strategy games.

Also, having a 22″ monitor, a kickass speaker setup and USB ports up the ass doesn't hurt either.

When I play online games, I love to play the shooters and the MMO's. It is a weakness of mine indeed. The computer puts a new spin on an old game when you aim with the mouse you know? Not to mention all the mods and updates keep the game interesting and map packs don't cost money either haha

LIke, Halo PC is so much fun online, and I had a lot more fun playing that than I ever did playing Halo 3 online. It was simple, there were mods, it was skill-oriented, and it was always connected to the internet. Good shit man. I mean, you tell me how the he;ll are you going to make warthogs fly easily and have epic fighter battles in the air?

And with MMOs I just love the concept. There's always someone out there to play with if for some magical reason I feel like talking to people on the internet, and aside from the 8 year olds who call you nubs there are some friendly people. In WOW when you played Horde, you were all brothers from other mothers. If an alliance was attacking you your buddies would jump right in and try to save you…well, most of the time lol

Here's to wishing I had a desktop for smoother gameplay and prettier graphics :/

I guess all I ever really played on the PC was Diablo 2, which thanks to Matt I also have now. Although now I play WOW, and well fuck I rape face hahaha. When you can Intervene Kidney Shot and Spell Reflect a Lava Blast while hexxed as a frog that's when people figure out not to fucking mess. I just need some better gear because mine currently sucks compared to other 80s, even though I can still beat most of them… except fucking hunters. >:O

Regardless, I still consider myself a console gamer due to my huge back history of console gaming, and the fact that I am a beast when I want to be. I was actually eligible for MLG for COD4, but considering that is not what I actually want in life I turned em down. People notice when you average 35 kills a game, usually involving 1 or 2 choppers and usually a 10 kill streak thrown in there. As much as I like my comp for WOW, deep down I'd still take a controller over my mouse any day.

I don't think I'll ever find a better interface for strategy and shooter games better than a mouse and keyboard. Controllers only work since FPS games have a modest amount of auto-aim on consoles.
