That's why I still use my original cartridges.

I use emulators because I never had a Gameboy.

And the space bar didn't speed things up enough – my computer actually lagged when it was speeding up, so it just made the framerate choppy. Now, the ~ key on by SNES emulator; that was a good fast forward.

Yeah I always use the ~ key. Space bar made fire emblem impossible to play at normal speed.

The schwa? How would you come up with that name?

The “schwa” was the only reason I beat Chrono Trigger in 2 days :P

Of course I did get all the ultimate weapons too, but damn that last boss was hard :P

My ROM of Chrono Trigger was glitched so I never beat it, unfortunately.

But Final Fantasy II (I think it's actually IV in Japan) was THE RPG I played in my emulator-centric childhood.

Yeah our playstation disc for Oddworld: Abes Oddysey was glitched (it froze while loading the scrabanian nest room) and thats a game we never got to beat.

Hell if I had a different copy and a playstation, Id SO beat it. -.- That game was fun, AND quite hard I must say. Theres a reason you have infinite lives, cause some of that shit will be killing you for hours. Fucking scrabs run just too damn quick.

I'm trying to think of what games I've got that are scratched beyond recognition, but I usually take excellent care of my games.

Only exception is Spy Hunter on the Gamecube, which was a game I hated so much that in a fit of fury it was broken on it's way back into the case.

Seriously, EGM gave it an 8 out of 10, and the original Spy Hunter was great. This ended up being a game with muddy, PS1 quality graphics, awful targeting, and horrible level design with no checkpoints. Awful game; thankfully I only spent like 10-15 bucks on it, but still.

Yeah, I heard The Force Unleashed was even worse on the Wii, and even looked terrible compared to other Wii games.

I was interested in it until I read the reviews, then stopped caring. Shame since it looked pretty cool.

The Force Unleashed is a GREAT game, dont get me wrong. Just dont play it on the damn Wii.

When I rented it on the 360, it was a fucking blast and even though I raped that game of all it's secrets on the hardest difficulty, I'd do it all again just because it was that fun. The combat can be pretty intense… its one of those games where iy makes you feel like some one man army badass ya know?

I heard that it basically did the opposite – you'd get Force Lightning Death Power, then meet a bunch of storm troopers waring rubber boots who were immune to it. That sorta thing. Also, that part where you take down a Star Destroyer. Was a central theme of the “That's it, FUCK THIS GAME!” thread on SomethingAwful.

I highly recommend MadWorld. Just got it yesterday for 30 bucks; it's goddamn wonderful.

I feel the exact opposite about the force lightning. I actually didn't really dind anything I couldn't kill with it in all honesty. It was so useful, especially since I also stunned enemies in addition to massively hurting them.

And yeah I hated the star destroyer part.

“Reach out with the Force and grab that destroyer!”

“Pull it o0ut of the sky!”

Those 2 dialogue pieces kept repeating for a solid 2 hours the first time through. :(

I heard it was pretty infuriating and why a lot of people stopped playing.

Pretty sure the best Star Wars game is the runner up for longest title ever:

“Star Wars: Dark Forces 3: Jedi Knight 2: Jedi Outcast”

Unfortunately the next one wasn't really in the Dark Forces continuity, so it was just “Jedi Academy” and you didn't play as Kyle Katarn.
I cheated the hell out of that game with console commands and managed to unlock dismemberment. When you run through a hallway swinging your lightsaber, dicing up stormtroopers, only to force push the pile of writhing pieces into a pit, you feel pretty badass. Unfortunately, pieces removed (except for hands, curiously enough) were still coded to move as if they were one cohesive body, so it got pretty weird when all 4 of a Stormtrooper's limbs, his upper torso, lower torso, and severed head are all wriggling all over before dying.

I think I was 11 when I was playing this game.

Well, there's quite a few games that I have yet to finish.

(Sega Dreamcast) Evolution: So i had this game when I was young. It was practically my first favorite RPG game. I only got to like the fifth world. I lost the game and my controller is busted. So yea. I don't think I'll ever get to finish that one.

(N64) Donkey Kong: I got to the end but I can't seem to get that one last coin to enter the battle to beat that stupid Croc! You have to beat this one old old Donkey/Mario game and I can't get past the third level. I get so close!

(PS2) Final Fantasy X: I can't seem to beat Sin. I'm at the very end and I just can't beat him lol. He gives me 5 turns to kil him and in one blow he destrosy me! I try to get my stats up but it hasn't worked and I'm too lazy!

(PS2) Kingdom Hearts 2: I don't own it and last I knew I couldn't get past Demyx's water clones before the heartless war thingy.

(PS3) Sonic Adventures: I'm at the Final Chapter and I'll be playing as tails as the giant vortex holes open and I keep messing up. I got past tails once but soon failed afterwards lol.

(PS3) Little Big Planet: I can't actually say I beat the game even though I've defeated the collector. I got through all the worlds I just haven't gotten 100% seeing as it requires 4 players at some points and I only have 2 controllers and none of my other friends have a PS3.

And that's about it as far as I know.

DK64 was ridiculous in the aspect that you are FORCED to beat that minigame but I got through it… 3 times… all of the damn golden bananas…

The end wasnt really very interesting, just a boxing type final boss fight. Not very interesting but I guess Nintendo tried to make it silly like they do in every one of their games.

Math required was 25+22? Getting ridiculous imo.

The minigame is just the old Donkey Kong arcade game – it's not very hard. The rocket ship game in DK64 was a lot tougher in my opinion.

I never finished Final Fantasy X. I was in some forest town type area and I had to chase butterflies. That was the “fuck this game” moment I had that led to me trading it in.

I've played Little Big planet a bit during our college's ballroom dancing night down in the cafeteria… I think they used the console as bait to get some fresh blood on the dancing scene. Anyway, I enjoy it :)

I encountered a similar “Fuck this game” moment in Red Faction: Guerrilla. It happened when I had (no spoilers) almost won the game, then the game just curls up and dies. 4 missions before the end it just dies story-wise. We're presented with a VERY unlikely situation that becomes the solution for the “giant spaceship thats going to kill us all”, but if it were in real life you'd probably shoot yourself in the head by how retarded it is. But I kept going. Up until this point I was going to say that Guerrilla was a fantastic game with some bad bits, but now I'll say the only good thing is the building destruction. But, yeah, I finished it and it had a very lame ending where I had to fight my way through SWARMS of EDF (I call them The Combine because they look, act, and talk like The Combine… they even die like them) all the way up a hill just to do something that I could have easily done with a satelight bomber I used 2 missions prior… but noooo…

anyway, better stop there before I rant anymore. Also I should add more to my uncompleted list, but I'll save it for later

My “fuck this game” moment happened in Prototype the other day, in a boss fight.

We all know the typical stationary boss. You kill the tentacles, then you can hurt the main body. Nothing special. Or is it… In addition to these tentacles, the body vomits out streams of rocks that knock you down. It also shoots seeking explosive orbs that knock you down. Now, to hurt the thing significantly, you need to use a devastator attack, which requires you to have full health and be standing in place. The damage and knockback of those two attacks, plus tentacle swings makes this really hard. It's health regenerates too, albeit slowly. This thing also has an attack that knocks out a full 50% of your health, and covers pretty much all of Times Square, where the battle is. If you leave the area, you lose the fight and have to restart.

Now, this sucks. What could make it worse? How about having half the US Military there too? Tanks, helicopters, soldiers with rocket launchers and machine guns spawing infinitely. Okay, that's annoying. How about hordes of zombies? These aren't too bad, as they are walking health packs more or less. Then there's these linebacker-esque zombies who knock you down. Worst of all are the Hunters, who are basically mutant gorillas who will chase you down, knock out half your health, and knock you down while endlessly juggling you.

Some of my experiences in the fight:

- I figured hijacking a helicopter would be a great idea, as it lets you shoot the big monster without worrying about the hunters or zombies. So I jump up and start jacking it, but before I can get in, the pilot decides to fly outside the area, so once I get in I get a “you have left the area” message and I fail the mission.

- There is one checkpoint, about a quarter through the fight. Because of this, I felt like I was going to have a heart attack for about half the fight.

- This fight took me an hour and a half.

- The monster used that whole screen attack twice in a row, and almost exclusively used it when I was right next to it, being knocked down.

- When you finally win, you really don't get that much xp. You could have just harvested zombies and gotten the same amount for the time investment.
