ok, well ive tested this theory with other ppl there in a no-attack just science game, and with my guest (second controller)
and we have discovered that if you stand perfectly still your silhouette KINDA goes away.
but in ninja-mode (light off, and crouching) if you melee, or fire your gun your silhouette comes back. and if you walk in the light with your flashlight on, your silhouette appears (crouching or not). but if you have your flashlight off it dooesnt matter whether your in the light at all.
basically- no attacking zombies=you invisible

Well, that seems about right. That more or less works in every first person shooter, whether it's in Halo where you don't pop up on the radar or in CoD when you make less noise. Kinda nice that they took the silhouette out when you do that though. That can really screw you.
Doesn't make much sense in the traditional zombie way, since zombies go as much by smell as by hearing, but most of that stuff went out the door when Valve bought the game from Turtle Rock Studios. Good as a gameplay mechanic though.

You guys didn't know about the silhouette thing? Little slow much hmm? It really doesn't matter too much honestly unless you're in survival cause you're gonna have to go through the levels anyway. Standing in one place won't do you much good really.

you didn't compeltely read my post did you?
we all knew SOMEHOW the silhouettes go away, but we didn't know EXACTLY how, and when they go away. we had thoughts, ideas and references, that if you turned off your light and crouching had something to do with it. Anyhow, this is useful in everything EXCEPT survival mode, because the AI director, in Survival mode (not talking about my jesus rock) will go after the humans no matter what. However we do have proof (since the demo) that the regular zombies have preferences:
vomited on survivors > first survivor to enter the room > crouching survivor > survivor with his light off
and yes mike, if it makes you feel better you discovered that (only because you were the first of us to download the demo)
against humans in versus, what i discovered is most useful. In campaign and survival is the only place where “zombie preference” is useful.

Well the only reason I discovered it really is because I chose my own basic survival over everyone else and whenever someone got vomited on I got far away from them and found it was actually a good idea because I could simply shoot the zombies off of them. (back in the days of the demo I prefered the assault rifle so I could cut them down from further away.)
So in reality that knowledge was born out of selfishness hahaha. My original intent was never to help the guy being vomitted on, no matter how much it helped rather than everyone being real close together and bugging out cause zombies are everywhere. Too bad the zombies just go after anyone when it comes to car alarms, but you can easily avoid those. Just throw some fire at the car if a smoker wants to get you to shoot him to set it off. (in versus of course cause AI dont do that)

The only downside to playing with AI though, is that if you're against them they tend ot make the human players look much better. But you can take advantage of their lack of desire to shoot stuff off of people to do more damage.
Also, crouch running is quite useful in campaign and versus. When I did No Mercy Expert, unless the horde was summoned, we surprised quite the number of special zombies by just crouching around with no flashlights on. And of course getting the hunting rifle the first level of that campaign helped too
I love that rifle on versus lmao; and the smoker will have his head just barely visible after we save the person, and POW. And Hunters on the Dead Air campaign don't like it either, especially in them long hallways Because I'll sit there crouched without a flashlight on while my team moves a bit ahead if we haven't killed specials in a while

I could always use the hunting rifle, because I can definitely can rape some face with the damn thing. But the auto shotgun fits my play style. I'm a vicious killing machine whenever I play and I'll manhandle every zombie in some brutal manner to get where I want to go. The shotgun is a perfect display of that. The only thing more brutal would be some melee weapon like a chainsaw or a weed whacker.

I get more kills with the hunting rifle surprisingly so thats what I tend to stick to. Not to mention a guy with some ragne on him who is good is a good thing indeed
we did no mercy expert and i had 400 more zombies than nate did in the end
First place woot woot

The hunting rifle is the sniper rifle, right?
I took it once since I wanted to do the sniper thing, and it might make more sense to shoot the zombies from long distance instead of charging.
Nope.
Just charged with the rifle. About the same as a shotgun really.

The only downside of the hunting rifle is that if you want some good shots you have to stand still to no scope for the most part.
So if you get boomer'd you have to pick em off 1 byy 1, which is actually quite effective, until you run out of ammo.
Annoying to reload but hey it works out for me

Meh even with the rifle I have found you can still “Superman” through levels. The only problem IS ammo conservation (unless your allies are better at killing than you are) and in reality they throw so much ammo at you it never matters.

When i was referring to ammo I meant the clip amount; to be honest its got so much ammo a good sniper could barely use half in a level and still rack up the most amount of kills. Usually when I play with nate and max and Devin i get the most kills because I switch to my pistols to snag those last few zombies before its reload time.
Its like in Call of Duty when they say its faster to switch your weapon, except in Left4Dead its a good idea :O

Bro it IS faster to swap to a pistol instead of reloading, TRUST ME.
That time I went all Altaïr on like 10 guys I emptied mah Carbine, emptied my Desert Eagle, THEN knifed 4 guys all around me like a rogue using killing spree. (thats WOW talk)
Had I not changed to my pistol, I wouldnt have survived.

Just a couple of days ago I got in this epic 3 minute knife fight with this other sniper.
I was getting tired of my team getting sniped so I started anti-sniping, and this other sniper saw me as I saw him, and we emptied both our pistols, and couldn't reload them because we were close enough to knife each other. We starting trying to knife each other, but we kept missing, it was so funny. What I can't belive is how long the knife fight went on for. I eventually killed him, but died moments later to this random enemy who was curious about what was going on.

Switching to your pistol instead of reloading in a close firefight has saved me a handful of times.
Alternately, spam your grenades for a flashtastic fun time.

it flies ridoulously straight.
I'm sorry, but I REALLY hate it when my deathcam is me shooting a guy in the head with my sniper, then he spawns and randomly shoots an RPG, that just HAPPENS to fly up my nose

But damn do I love the RPG perk when I'm starting a new prestige!
That way when my enemy is far away I can shoot an RPG and kill him, or at least give my 2 seconds to move faster with my M16 and 1-shot him

It definitely is much better than people give it credit for, but dont use it over another actual gun unless you got a reason .
